Born on Third Base

The author of Born on Third Base: A One Percenter Makes the Case for Tackling Inequality, Bringing Wealth Home, and Committing to the Common Good, Chuck Collins makes a rather rare argument by someone, who comes from a rich family to "prove the wealth by giving out the wealth." Throughout his book, Collins describes many personal anecdotes about how big of a difference does a birth to a rich white family in the U.S. really is. He brings out interesting and compelling stories supporting his argument. For example, Collins describes how two seemingly same college students could have vastly different experience throughout their undergraduate careers. As a comparison, he looks at a one student from a wealthy family, who has to mainly focus on academic and professional experience. In the very contrast, another student, who comes from a much more humble background has to work a few part-time jobs throughout his college career, which leaves him with a long, but unimpressive and compelling resume that does not show any professional experience. Even worse, the latter student also has to continue working at same part-time jobs to start paying his college debt, which would undermine not only his ability to get a good paying position after graduation, but also vastly limit his ability to get a safe house mortgage.
Throughout his book, Collins brings more stories that support his idea that the 1% in America needs to help the other 99%. I think the author made a compelling argument in his book, while using easy English along with interesting and emotional anecdotes that all together bring the reader closer to his argument and why it is important.
